PROTECTION ISLAND BEACON HOUSE COMMUNITY CENTRE

What:

Protection Island Beacon House is the home of a former lighthouse keeper that has been converted into a community centre, museum, and library of children’s books, adult fiction and non-fiction and DVDs. The library is staffed by trained volunteers. There is a free book and magazine exchange, reading area and children’s space. Children’s story-time is offered once per week, and there are occasional readings throughout the year.

When:

The library currently opens Sunday 1:00 to 3:00 pm with Island Storytime for children Thursday mornings 10:30 am to 11:30 pm.

How:

Protection Island residents can borrow books and DVDs for free, and donations of books and DVDs are gratefully accepted. The volunteer library committee is responsible for the operation of the library and programming.
