WORDSTORM

What:

WordStorm offers poetry and prose readings at the Vault Cafe on the corner of Wallace Street and Albert. They are a registered society and provide support for new and established writers. WordStorm brings in featured poets and prose writers who are sponsored by the League of Canadian Poets, the Writers’ Union of Canada and the Canada Council for the Arts.

When:

Open mike is the last Tuesday of every month and starts at 7:00 pm. There may be breaks for some months of the year. VIU poetry sessions are advertised on the website. In addition WordStorm sponsors the Hazelwood Writers Festival and Roaming Poets once a year and arranges for two or three writing workshops throughout the year.

How:

WordStorm is open to anyone and there is a $5.00 drop-in fee or by donation, most of which goes to the open mike prizes and local featured writers not funded for their readings.
