Altrusa members volunteer to deliver library books to people in the Nanaimo area who are unable to leave their homes. They deliver new materials every three weeks and collect the previous items coming due to the library.
This free service is provided all year round. Any item that can be checked out of the library can be delivered. This includes easy-to-read books, large print books, CDs (audio books and music), DVDs and magazines – up to a maximum of 6 items. Library hours are Monday to Thursday 10am-8pm, Friday and Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 12:30pm-4pm.
Just call or email the library and ask for the Altrusa book service. Library staff will ask for the person’s name, address, and interests so they can choose books that that will be enjoyed. Volunteers will deliver the new books and pick up the previous ones to return to the library.
